“WORD’S OF WISDOM” by FATHER JIM SHANLEY, CHAPLAIN

      Easter is early this year- Sunday March 31^st- so that means, after the “green” is put away on the 18^th, it is time to get ready for Holy Week. It would be a great idea not only to come to church on Palm Sunday and Easter, but also to choose a day now to attend an additional service:  Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil.  Have you gone to confession yet this Lent?  Reminder that confessions are heard every Monday night from 6 – 7 PM in every church in the Archdiocese this Lent.  You only have a few weeks left.  If Monday’s don’t work, how about Saturday from 3:30 – 4:15? Don’t say NO ! to God’s mercy and forgiveness!

COUNCIL HAPPENINGS

FISH  FRY

Brothers, the Lenten Friday Fish Fries are in full swing.  We have, despite Mother Nature's onslaught of snow and rain, held two very successful Fish Fries. On March 1st, we nearly broke our all-time record with a packed house for the Before and After School! Special thanks to all who have lent their support in both preparation and running of these events which have become a welcomed part of Guilford (so many times we are asked by parishioners "When are your next Fish Fries?"). The Fish Fry to benefit OLM which was postponed due to the weather has been rescheduled March 22, and the Fish Fry to benefit the Roof Project has been pushed to March 29th (Good Friday). If you are planning on lending a helping hand, please be sure to sign up on the assignment boards posted in the council chambers or call Dan Walker at 203-640-1919.

March 22^nd​ - Our Lady of Mercy School

ANNUAL ST.PATRICK’S DAY DINNER/DANCE WILL BE HELD ON MARCH 16^TH.  See Carl Swan, GK for tickets. Last Year we” SOLD OUT” so get your tickets while we still have some available!

HOME ASSOCIATION

As we continue to address the need for major roof repairs to our building, please contact members of the committee with your ideas for additional ways to raise the funds we need to perform these repairs.

BY-LAWS COMMITTEE: The February meeting met the 25 person requirement for a Quorum. As a result, we were able to vote upon the proposed by-laws changes. These changes were approved by unanimous vote. One important update to the by-laws includes the ability of members to participate in person or remotely by electronics means such as telephone or video conference (i.e. Skype or Google + Hangout). We will be working out the logistics to enable members to participate in this way in the near future.

BINGO: It seems that we ask for help in every Newsletter.  If you can give a hand once every third Monday for a couple of hours it will be appreciated. Stop by and see what it’s all about!  Doors open at 5:30 Games start at 7pm.  Call John Candelora or Matt Lawlor to enlist! Workers are still needed for Teams 1 and 3. We are also looking for new callers as well as ideas on how to attract more players to our weekly games.
